Very comfortable dress shoe. On my first wear, I wore these all day at the office plus walked over a mile at lunch—no blisters which is unusual for me until shoes are broken in.They run on the narrow side of medium like a lot of Mephistos do but they are also stretchy. I have a pair of the Mephisto Linda boots, which are made out of the same material, and they still look brand new after three years and are great at keeping feet dry.I am a minimalist business traveler and go to Europe for work at least a couple of times a year so do quite a bit of walking in business attire. I love the boots for cold weather travel, but they have the limitation of not working well with pants. These shoes work for both pants and skirts with the huge bonus of being waterproof.The only thing that I would prefer is if they were a little more padded at the ball of your foot. However, compared to most office/business shoes, they are much more padded. Of course compared to some other Mephistos, like the Mobils line, they aren’t that padded; nor could they be given the height of the footbed which could not be thicker while still keeping a professional dress look. They also have a reasonably thick insert that could be replaced with a different insert. However, since they are on the narrow side, putting in anything much thicker might be difficult.Overall, this is a very nice, well-made and comfortable dress shoe. Two thumbs up!These shoes required no breaking in time. I wore them for hours the first day out of the box. There is plenty of arch support and room to wiggle your toes.The only part of my body that doesn't hurt is my feet, so I baby them. I found Mephisto about 15 years ago and since then, they've been my shoe...my only shoe.A couple of years ago, Mephisto stopped making my go-to dress shoe. Since then I've been searching for a replacement with exactly the right fit.I've kissed a lot of frogs in my search...I gave four different styles a test run before finding the "Gila".At last...this is a really, really, REALLY comfortable shoe.I will admit I am a little concerned. The body of the shoe is entirely cloth that stretches. It is so soft and forms to the foot so beautifully, I'm afraid that over time it may stretch to such an extent it may no longer support the foot. But for now I'll rely on Mephisto quality and enjoy wearing the shoe. If my assessment changes I'll edit my review.I bought these shoes because I need a nice pair to wear with slacks. I have metatarsalgia and need a shoe with good arch support. These are okay but are very expensive. My normal shoe size is 7 M but in Mephisto I always have to go up a size, in this case a 7.5 M. Mephisto makes quality shoes, just wish they allowed vendors to put things on sale.I love them. The only my concern is for how long should will hold a form... time will show.These will strech as you wear them. They will also mold to your feet, making these even more comfortable as you wear them.Great shoe!! Looks great with skirts or pants.I love this shoe, but my neuropathy prevents me enjoying the wearing for long. I may try for a larger size.
